Balayage and Ombre – Our Approach
Balayage London Explained
Balayage is derived from a French word meaning “to sweep” or “to paint”.When highlighting hair using this technique, the dye is painted onto the hair in such a way as to create a graduated, natural-looking effect. This gives balanced, multi-tonal colour which looks naturally stylish. The fluent blend between the balayage and the tones of the underlying hair is key to why balayage techniques are frequently our most requested.
Balayage is usually applied freehand, most often using a paddle spatula for painting the colour dye directly onto the hair. Depending on the result desired, it can also be achieved by backcombing the hair to produce a different effect. This is ideal for anyone who wants a colour that’s easy to maintain and wants to give their hair a break from full highlights. The top section of the hair is generally coloured to a light to medium brown, blending into the length with a soft creamy blonde.Of course, the final choice of can be tailored to suit!
Ombre London Explained
Ombre is another French word meaning “to shade”. Typically bolder and and visually more intense, ombre is a great technique to introduce darker tones to your hair when it has gone too light. Ombre gives the hair added depth, but just keep in mind that if you are used to all over blonde then having dark roots can take some adjustment.
If, however, you are looking for a bigger colour change, then this is for you. We can vary ombre from a more natural look, or easily add bright colours, pastel tones and even crazy colours!
